What are your privacy rights?

Where do they come from?

Common law jurisdictions and civil law jurisdictions vary in privacy rights.

Enforcement of privacy rights varies. At all times your knowledge and active protection of your own privacy is the key to ensuring your privacy is maintained.

You are the key to your own privacy.

Like the old saying “the horse is already out of the barn”, your information is yours to keep private. Once you allow it out into the world do you really expect legal protections to make it private again?

Do you have the right to say no when governments, corporations or anyone asks for information about you?

Yes.

You have been tricked, deceived, kept ignorant, intimidated or “lead down the garden path”. Maybe all of them.

You’re an adult now. Reclaim your rights by become aware, educated and consistent in your defense of them, or not. It’s up to you. They are your rights to keep or waive.

Learn your rights. Learn your responsibilities. Hold the corporations, governments and criminals to task and make it tough for them to invade your life by stepping up to the plate and use the rights that the laws are written to protect but require you to act first before they can assist you in defense.
